Eric’s well-known books captivated readers with his iconic colourful hand-painted tissue paper collage illustrations and distinctively simple stories, introducing generations of children to a bigger, brighter world – and to their first experience of reading itself.  Now the timeless classic makes its way off the page and onto the stage.  Created by Jonathan Rockefeller, the critically acclaimed production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show features a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets, faithfully adapting four of Eric Carle’s stories – The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse, The Very Lonely Firefly and of course The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Trunk, tail, ears or wings? Carnival creates itself from all sorts of things! This is “Carnival of the Animals” but not as we know it. Dissected for body part potential to create the “ultimate animal” we take inspiration from the music by Camille Saint-Saëns, a little help from Darwin and a whole lot of cardboard to mash up a show full of puppet possibility. The Curious Adventures of Pinocchio Sunday 12 Feb, ages 5+ • 2.30pm, £9 individual, £30 family of four • Lyngo Theatre presents The Curious Adventures of Pinocchio. Crickets, cats, foxes and, of course, the world-famous puppet, will spring out of our collection of dusty, old, magic books while Patrick Lynch from CBeebies pulls all the strings and turns all the pages to bring you the true story of Pinocchio, no lie. Goldilocks! Wednesday 15 Feb, 11am (all ages) and 2.30pm, ages 4+ • £9 individual, £30 family of four • Hand to Mouth Theatre presents Goldilocks! Martin Bridle and Su Eaton have woven extra drama and laughter into the well- loved tale of Goldilocks, stitching together traditional glove puppetry and live music to create a patchwork of delights which is … just right. Gingerbread! Thursday 16 Feb, 11am (all ages) and 2.30pm, ages 4+ • £9 individual, £30 family of four • Hand to Mouth Theatre presents Gingerbread. Martin is busy baking biscuits and cakes in the kitchen. As he mixes the sugars and spices, he adds a sprinkling of songs, a generous helping of humour, and some imaginatively invented puppets to tell the story of The Magic Porridge Pot and The Gingerbread Man. A Real Alien Adventure Saturday 18 Feb, 2.30pm, ages 4+ • £9 individual, £30 family of four. • Ripstop Theatre presents A Real Alien Adventure. A Real Alien Adventure follows intrepid explorer, Amelia Buttersnap, on an intergalactic mission to find out if aliens really do exist and what they want with her cat? A fun and engaging for all the family full of home-made gadgets, magic and shadow play. Cities Friday 3 February, ages 12+ • 7.30pm Tickets £18/ £16 concession, • Théâtre De La Pire Espéce presents Cities. This show will be performed at Epic Studios on Magdalen Street. An actor, a table, a camera. Dozens of objects used to design and conjure up an unusual collection of imaginary cities. Built by the actor before our eyes, each city provides a vivid potential alternative narrative about our own contemporary society and the challenges we face.
